College roommates can be a blessing or a curse in disguise
It’s early morning and Finn hasn’t had much sleep. And while waiting for Blair to get ready, he learns of Blair’s strict roommate. To help out, he makes a suggestion, but it gets them both of them thinking.
I wanted to write something as a thank you to rainbowd00dles for drawing Finn with her character Blair, who is trans (she/her). I made them rebellious college friends with benefits because I love the idea of these two being a pair of tearaways together.
These shorts are practice pieces that build upon the lore of my characters. These pieces may feature characters that belong to my friends, but those characters may not appear in my final story. However, they should be taken as extended lore. I hope you enjoy these shorts.
It wasn’t his bed, but as he flipped himself over to lie on his front, Finn felt ready to take a nap. A late night with a bit of studying and a lot of partying had left him running on fumes as he saw the empty energy drink he had devoured only minutes earlier. His eyelids felt heavy, but he wasn’t ready to sleep.
Leaning into the mirror, Blair lined her lips with her lipstick before pressing her lips together. “At least you get to have fun. Clarrie will lit lock the door if I’m not back in by ten.”
“Ten?” Finn squeaked, surprised. “You’re kidding, right? Does she actually lock it?”
“I bunked up in a friend’s dorm.” Blair turned to look at Finn as she brushed her hair through her fingers. “Does that answer your question?”
Finn blinked before resting his head back onto his arms. “How do you cope with that?”
“By being the biggest party pooper to all my friends?” Blair bragged as she turned back to the mirror, pushing her fingers through her hair to get into a style she liked. “It’s no biggie. I should thank her for all the decent grades I’ve had on recent papers.”
“That’s not what college is about!” the boy wailed into the bedsheets before dragging himself begrudgingly into an upright sitting position. “It’s also about mingling and building your social network. How are you supposed to build those crucial social skills when you have to be home before Cinderella?”
“You got a better idea?”
Finn thought about the question for a moment. “You could bunk up with me?”
There was a moment of silence as Blair froze for a second, a flash of a fond yet heated memory rushing past her eyes. “Like that time we skipped our first period?”
“Like what we are doing now?” the boy’s reply was suggestive.
It wasn’t like they hadn’t flirted many times before, but the night they crossed the friendship line had never been discussed. Casually hinted at when an innuendo presented itself was as far as the two friends got. Yet there was a casual understanding that it wouldn’t be more than a hookup. An unofficial friends-with-benefits agreement.
“You’d get nothing done,” the girl smirked, still looking into the mirror, catching Finn approaching her from behind. She felt his hands around her waist, cheekily sliding under the hem to touch the skin beneath. There was a soft kiss below her neck, the lower tank top exposing the upper back of her back to him. She brushed her hair away from her face as he looked around at him, feeling the gentle scratch of his chin strap as he pulled back to speak.
“But you’d get to have some fun and freedom.” Finn gave Blair another gentle kiss on the spot as he smirked. “So I think that’s a good exchange, don’t you?”
