Who is doing all the kissing at the New Year Party?

Blair's drunk on Prosecco and kisisng all of her friends, but is Finn looking a little jealous?

It’s New Year’s Eve in the college dorms. Everyone is having a good time, waiting to see in the New Year. Well, almost everyone…

As part of the New Year, rainbowd00dles offered to draw characters kissing their characters. We have seen Blair and Finn’s interactions previously when Blair explained her situation with her roommate. We saw that there was something casual between them.

But not everyone can handle no-strings-attached. And Finn struggles with his feelings when Blair starts kissing all her friends.

These shorts are practice pieces that build upon the lore of my characters. These pieces may feature characters that belong to my friends, but those characters may not appear in my final story. However, they should be taken as extended lore. I hope you enjoy these shorts.

“Is that Devin she’s kissing?”

“Didn’t she just kiss Kali only a minute ago?”

“Oh, Blair, no…”

Slouched in a chair with his arms crossed, Finn chewed his inner bottom lip as he listened to the talk from the girls standing near him. His leg bounced with a concoction of frustration and anxiety as he contemplated both what he was seeing and hearing from those around him. He had counted Blair kissing at least five people in the last half an hour—seven if he heard things correctly from the group gossiping about her. Inhaling, he took a deep fill of his lungs to try and calm himself, but it only made his chest feel tighter.

“You need to chill.”

Finn wasn’t sure if it was the voice or the hands that landed on his shoulder that made him jump. “Fu—” He closed his eyes, pursing his lips as his heart raced for a few seconds. Lissie walked around from behind him, sitting on the chair next to him. “End me before New Year starts, why don’t you?” he added as he shuffled himself out of his slouch.

“You put the Grinch to shame,” she said, stirring her drink before sipping it through the straw for effect. “Green isn’t a good color on you.”

“It shouldn’t even be on me,” Finn stubbornly turned his head to look at his best friend before letting out a defeated sigh. “We’re only casually screwing around.”

“So why do you look ready to punch every guy or girl she kisses?” Lissie asked, looking back over at the girl they were talking about, watching her down another glass of Prosecco. “You know, she’s pretty wasted.”

“I know,” Finn grumbled before he shrugged, rolling his head around his shoulders. “And I don’t know. I shouldn’t be fucking pissed. But I can’t seem to shake it.”

While her best friend was oblivious to his feelings, Lissie stirred the drink with the straw, a suggestive smile on her face. “Do you think it’s because you like her?”

“Maybe?” Finn said. “That or I just don’t like how some of these creeps might take advantage of her.”

“That,” Lissie started, tilting her head while setting the drink aside, “was not something I had considered. I should go and talk to her.”

“No.” Finn closed his eyes for a moment, taking another deep breath. “I’ll go.”

Pushing himself from the chair, the student crossed the floor towards where the girl stood, giggling away with two of the boys. The glass in her hand was empty, but Finn was sure Blair had tried to take a swig or two from it, chasing the droplets left at the bottom.

“Okay,” he said as he stepped between her and the boys. “I think you and I need to have a quick chat.” He nodded at the two boys, a signal that he was taking Blair away and for them to leave, which they did without an argument, to Finn’s surprise.

“Just who I wanted to see,” Blair squealed giddily, nearly tripping over her feet as Finn steadied her with his hands on her waist. She discarded the glass on the counter next to them before she flamboyantly wrapped her arms around the boy’s neck. “I’ve been saving this one for you.”

Before Finn could object, he found the girl’s lips on his as Blair leaned up to kiss him. He could feel her arms wrap around his neck tighter, holding onto him as both their tongues greeted each other. He could tell this kiss was different, considering he had watched Blair kiss five of her friends—there was some feeling behind it, a bit of sincerity and desire. For a moment, he forgot about what had been bothering him as he released himself into the kiss, letting his bitter thoughts float away as he heard numerous loud cheers around them.

“Ten… nine… eight…”

After breaking the kiss, Blair looked at Finn, her cheeks flushed pink. “Just the boy I want to be kissing into the new year.” And as the last few numbers were shouted out in the room, both teens found themselves lip-locked, passing from one year into the next with a kiss.
